We decided it was time to take Boston to the zoo after a couple weeks of him mentioning it in his bedtime prayers. I don't know where it started, but every night he would name different animals and say thank you that he could see them at the zoo.
Scott took a couple days off work while my parents were here, so we thought that would be a good time to go. We also stopped at the Japanese Tea Gardens right before the zoo and walked around for a few minutes.
One of our favorite things at the zoo was the bird exhibit. You get to see them really close up, and Scott had fun taking pictures of them. I loved the blue birds!
Boston was all about the snakes, reptiles, and tigers. He was a little sad that we didn't get to see elephants and giraffes though. A lot of the animals weren't on exhibit. We're not sure why, but maybe because it was a weekday and the off season.
The monkeys are still my favorite. They even had a baby monkey.
The petting zoo with pigs and goats was fun.
The leopard was running some laps for us, but Boston insisted it was a cheetah, and didn't like it when we tried to tell him it was a leopard.
We had fun watching the rhino for awhile because he was actually walking around instead of just laying there like the animals usually do.
Visiting the zoo in the Winter, even if we miss a few animals, definitely beats going in the heat and humidity of Summer. We're glad Boston finally got to see most of the animals he'd been praying about. He's at the perfect age for things like trips to the zoo. It was a fun family day!
